Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, Welcome to the Jungle, has been the talk of the town for quite some time. Besides Akshay, the film features a diverse cast of Hindi cinema stars. Surprisingly, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor are not part of Welcome 3. The film’s director has now spoken openly about this.
Why Uday and Majnu Bhai will not be part of the Welcome franchise?
Ahmed Khan has assembled a star-studded cast for his upcoming adventure comedy Welcome to the Jungle, including Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty, perhaps the biggest star cast in recent years. However, Anil Kapoor (Majnu) and Nana Patekar (Uday), who were key members of the Welcome franchise’s first two installments, will not be seen in the third installment.
Here’s why Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor are not in Welcome to the Jungle
In an interview, Ahmed said, “What’s the problem with that? I didn’t make Baaghi 4; someone else (A. Harsha) made it. I’m making Welcome 3, and Welcome and Welcome Back director Anees Bazmee made Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3. Priyadarshan directed the first part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. He believes that a change in cast and director brings freshness to the franchise.”
He says that Welcome had Akshay Kumar, Welcome Back had John Abraham. Bhool Bhulaiyaa had Akshay, and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 have Kartik Aaryan. He further says that you can only stretch something to a certain extent, after that it breaks.
Every film has its limitations, but not a franchise. There were many sequels to the Khiladi films, but none of the Khiladi films had a direct connection to the other. Similarly, in Welcome, John replaced Akshay in the sequel, and that is where the story’s link was broken. Now Akshay is back. So this is Welcome, but with an even bigger cast.
When will Welcome to the Jungle release?
Welcome to the Jungle was originally scheduled to be released around Christmas this year, but an official release date has yet to be announced. It’s believed it will hit the big screen sometime in the middle of next year.
