New Delhi: The Bollywood community has come under fire yet again. This time round, Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat has targeted the Hindi film industry remaining silent about the devastating floods that have submerged one third of Pakistan. She claimed that human suffering knows no boundaries, and this is the moment to demonstrate that.

Mehwish is covering every angle of the natural disaster, from speaking to international news channels and portals to posting about it on social media. The actor recently vented her frustration with Bollywood stars on Instagram stories about their “deafening silence” regarding the floods in Pakistan. The actor pleaded with the B-town celebrities to put aside “nationalist politics” and stand up for their Pakistani fans. She stated that when it comes to ‘suffering’ we must rise above ‘nationality, race or religion’.

“The silence from the Bollywood fraternity is deafening. ‘Suffering knows no nationality, race or religion’ – no better time for them to show us that they can rise above nationalist politics and care about their fans in Pakistan. We are hurting and a kind word or two would not go amiss,” she wrote while sharing a post from journalist Haroon Rashid which talked about the same.

Haroon had written in his original post that “I genuinely thought humanity knows no borders but it’s telling that hardly any Bollywood stars have posted about the devastating floods in Pakistan – raiseawareness, share links, just show sympathy.” He opined that the popularity of Bollywood celebbs would help in creating more awareness about the plight and suffering of Pakistani citizens in these trying times. He added a heartbroken emoji to his Instagram story.

Recently, supermodel Bella Hadid had shared a clip and asked people to message her with any information on how to help flood victims in Pakistan. “Finding real ways to help Pakistan. Message me if you have any information, please,” she had written.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
