Walt Disney’s Moana 2 is releasing in India today, November 29, and is expected to do good business. However, figures from the US market hint that the film is going to be a superhit here too. The sequel to the popular animated film Moana minted USD 57.5 million on its opening day in the US, including $13.8 million (£11 million) in previews.
This makes it the third-highest grosser on opening day, after Incredibles 2 (USD 71.2 million) and Inside Out (USD 63.5 million), reported MSN. The film has also achieved the biggest opening for any Disney animated movie.
The film’s business is expected to grow exponentially because of Thanksgiving and the figures may touch $175 million (£138 million) by end of this week. In India, it is expected to perform well due to Cinema Day, as tickets will be available for only Rs 99.

Moana 2 is an animated musical fantasy adventure film directed by Dana Ledoux Miller and produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It Awhimai Fraser, David Fane, Rose Matafeo, Hualālai Chung, Auliʻi Cravalho, and Dwayne Johnson in key roles.
The second instalment is set three years after the first film. It follows the story of Moana, who now goes on her journey to explore new islands in hopes to find other people who are connected to the ocean. One fine day, Moana gets a vision from her ancestor, Tautai Vasa, who tells her that the reason why no one is connected to the ocean anymore, and thereon began a news adventure.
