Earlier, Fatima got caught up in a controversy a few weeks before the Miss Universe 2025 event. Host Nawat Itsaragrisil insulted her and called her ‘dumbhead’ in front of everyone. She walked out of the room and told the media, “What your director did is not respectful — he called me dumb. The world needs to see this because we are empowered women, and this is a platform for our voice.”

She walked out of the room and was followed by several other beauty queens, who supported her. Nawat Itsaragrisil later publicly apologised for his behaviour after receiving massive backlash.
