Mere Husband Ki Biwi Review: Arjun Kapoor’s Film Is A Hilarious Rollercoaster Ride You Can’t Miss!

Mere Husband Ki Biwi blends romance, comedy and chaos delivering a family entertainer packed with laughter and drama!

Review by Navin Singh Bhardwaj: Bollywood is embracing a wave of family-centric stories, blending humour, emotions and drama to strike a chord with audiences. This refreshing trend has even drawn big stars towards relatable, lighthearted narratives. Riding this wave, Mere Husband Ki Biwi has hit theaters, promising a mix of romance, comedy and chaos. The intriguing title itself sparks curiosity. What does it really mean? Well, the film does a great job of unraveling this mystery! So, how does Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet’s latest entertainer fare? Here’s the review of this!

Story Line

The story begins in New Delhi, where Ankur Chaddha (Arjun Kapoor) is trying to recover from his traumatic marital life. He was married to Prableen Dhillon (Bhumi Pednekar), but their relationship ended in divorce. The experience was so distressing that Ankur is haunted by nightmares of his ex-wife. To help him move on, his friend Rehaan Qureshi (Harsh Gujral) introduces him to different women.

During this time, Ankur reconnects with his college crush, Antara Khanna, and their friendship soon turns into love. Just as things start going well for them, Ankur receives a shocking phone call from his ex-wife, Prableen, has met with an accident. The accident has caused her to lose memory of the past five years, which means she does not remember their divorce! Prableen still believes that she and Ankur are happily married and is determined to win back his love. Meanwhile, Antara feels threatened by Prableen’s return, and a love triangle begins.

Direction & Writing

Produced by Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, the film is written and directed by Mudassar Aziz. The writing is fresh and somewhat intriguing, with a well-paced screenplay. Mudassar Aziz’s signature comic timing is evident throughout the film. In the first half, Bhumi Pednekar appears mostly in flashbacks and dreams, while the second half gains momentum with her presence. However, veteran actors Mukesh Rishi, Kanwaljit Singh, Anita Raj, and Shakti Kapoor deserved more screen time.

Here’s a spoiler if you are looking forward to the remake of the song “Apna Bana Le Mujhe Balma,” you’ll find it in the end credits! Despite featuring multiple music composers, including Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, Badshah, Akshay & IP, Sohail Sen, Jassi, Jassi Sidhu, and DJ K Square, the other songs fail to leave a lasting impact.

Acting

After playing the menacing Danger Lanka in Singham Again, Arjun Kapoor returns to his comic avatar after a long time, and it’s refreshing to see him in this role. His on-screen chemistry with Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet is enjoyable. Bhumi portrays the jealous ex-wife convincingly, while Rakul Preet looks stunning in her new avatar.

Stand-up comedian Harsh Gujral makes his acting debut but appears slightly nervous in certain scenes. Dino Morea, in a special appearance, plays Rakul Preet’s brother, while Aditya Seal portrays Bhumi’s current boyfriend. The supporting actors, Mukesh Rishi, Kanwaljit Singh, Anita Raj, and Shakti Kapoor, enhance the entertainment quotient.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi guarantees laughter this weekend! If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted film, head to the theaters.
