The 71st National Film Award ceremony was held on Tuesday, which celebrated and honoured the best work of Indian cinema in 2023. Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Mohanlal and Rani Mukerji received top honours, but a young star stole their limelight with her cuteness. That young actor is none other than Treesha Thosar, who won the National Film Award in the Best Child Artist category for her role in the Marathi film ‘Naal 2’.
Treesha Thosar won everyone’s hearts after she entered the stage while wearing a white saree. Even Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji could not stop smiling as Treesha received her award. The crowd also cheered loudly for her.
Expressing gratitude on achieving this big milestone, Treesha wrote on Instagram, “I still don’t fully understand what I have achieved, but I do know this much—that through this award, the name of my Maharashtra state and my entire family has been elevated. And as my mother said, in the past 70 years of National Awards, I am the youngest child artist ever to receive this honor.”

“For this success of mine, I am deeply grateful to my parents, my entire family, my whole film team, my director @sudhakaryakkanti Sir, who chose me for this role, all the senior jury members who selected me for this award, and most importantly, to my beloved audience, who showered so much love on “Chimi.” It is only because of your support that I have been able to reach this place at such a young age. I pray that your love and support always remain with me. I promise that I will continue to work with the same responsibility and sincerity in the future as well,” she added.
‘Naal 2’ is written and directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, and produced by Nagraj Manjule under the banner Aatpat Production and Zee Studios. Its prequel, ‘Naal’, also won the National Film Award in 2019. The movie also stars Shrinivas Pokale, Nagraj Manjule, Devika Daftardar, Deepti Devi and Jitendra Joshi.
