From co-stars to life partners, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are one of Bollywood’s most loved couples. They got married on April 14, 2022, in a small ceremony at their Mumbai home, Vastu, with only close family and friends present. Later that year, in November 2022, they welcomed their daughter, Raha.
Alia made her Bollywood debut as a lead actress in Student of the Year (2012), after appearing as a child artist in Sangharsh (1999). Ranbir stepped into the industry with Saawariya (2007), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Their love story began during the shooting of Brahmastra, and after dating for more than five years, they got married in 2022. Alia has often said that she admired Ranbir since she was a child and even had a crush on him long before they met.
How Ranbir first met Alia
During a 2024 podcast with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir revealed how he first met Alia when she was just nine years old, long before their love story began. “The first time I met Alia was when she was 9 years old and I was 20 years old, and we did a photoshoot together because Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to make a film called ‘Balika Vadhu’ about child marriage. That’s the first time I met her. It seems a little weird now to say,” he admitted with a laugh.
In the same conversation, Ranbir spoke fondly of his wife, calling her “special.” He said, “Alia was somebody I met over the years and thought this person is special. I have immense respect for her as an actor, artist, person, daughter, and sister. She really makes me smile. I love going on a holiday with her, but I also love to be home with her.”

According to GQ India, Alia Bhatt’s net worth stands at Rs 550 crore, surpassing Ranbir Kapoor’s Rs 345 crore. She is among the most successful actresses in Bollywood, reportedly charging Rs 15 crore per film and Rs 9 crore per brand endorsement.
Ranbir and Alia’s new Krishna Raj bungalow in Bandra, Mumbai, is one of the city’s most anticipated celebrity homes. The six-storey mansion, valued at Rs 250 crore, is nearing completion.
