Several television stars tried to make their name in Bollywood, but not many were successful. However, this actress has successfully transitioned from television to movies to web shows and has established herself as one of the most versatile performers. She became popular as a TV bahu but later starred in one of the most successful Bollywood films of all time. She is none other than Sakshi Tanwar.
Born in Alwar, Rajasthan, Sakshi Tanwar worked as a sales trainee at a five-star hotel before joining the film industry. She reportedly wanted to be an IAS officer, but fate had other plans. She joined showbiz as the presenter in Doordarshan’s film songs-based program ‘Albela Sur Mela’ in 1998.
However, the recognition came after she starred in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii in the lead role, and the show ran for eight years. She then appeared in Kutumb, Devi, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki and Crime Patrol. Sakshi rose to stardom again with the 2011 show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’.

She gained global recognition after starring in the 2016 film Dangal alongside Aamir Khan. She played Aamir’s wife in the movie and received immense praise for her performance.
Later, she transitioned into working in web series and worked in Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabat, The Final Call, MOM- Mission Over Mars, Mai and many more.
She is a mother to a daughter, whom she adopted in 2018 when the baby was only nine months old.
