Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane has spoken about Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood, which has caused some controversy. While Fawad is all set to make his comeback with the film Abir Gulal, his casting has sparked political opposition from some groups in India.
In a recent interview with Times of India, the “Sanam Teri Kasam” star addressed the opposition from industry insiders and political groups against Pakistani artists working in Bollywood.
Mawra, known for her role in Sanam Teri Kasam, shared her thoughts in an interview with Times of India she was asked about the objections to Pakistani artists to which she addressed “I don’t take it personally. This is how the world works, right? I truly believe if it’s meant to happen, it will. I block out the noise around my work. I love to do what I do, so I do not let these things affect me. It is truly the producer’s headache which is sad but it is their problem. If I invest my mind into thinking, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen,’ I will always be restless.”
“When my colleagues do well, we definitely reach out to each other. We wish each other luck. I truly wish the best for everyone. I hope this film does really well.”
She revealed she recently reached out to Fawad to wish him luck and said she genuinely supports her fellow actors doing well “If it’s meant to happen, it will. I focus on my work and block out the noise,” she said. She added that it’s the producer’s problem to deal with, not hers.
Fawad Khan is set to return to Indian screens after a six-year absence with “Abir Gulal,” a romantic drama co-starring Vaani Kapoor. The film is scheduled to release on May 9. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, the film features an ensemble cast including Riddhi Dogra, Lisa Haydon, Soni Razdan, Farida Jalal, and Parmeet Sethi.
However, the political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has objected to his casting, claiming it violates a prior agreement about Pakistani artists working in Indian films.
