Lone Skye in her new memoir, “Say Everything,” revealed that her ex Matthew Perry reached out to her with a heartfelt text message before tragically passing away in October 2023. The “Friends” actor, who died at age 54 from “acute effects” of ketamine, sent her an unexpected message reflecting on their past relationship.
According to Skye, Perry texted: “Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and ‘In Your Eyes’ started playing. And I instantly thought of you and how beautiful you are… I hope you are healthy and happy.”
Skye described the message as coming “out of the blue” and “very wild,” noting that while they occasionally texted, this particular message surprised her. She told The Mirror US she found it to be “such a warm text” that made her happy.
Skye’s Regret’s “I Wish I Had Called Him”
In her memoir, Skye expresses regret about not calling Perry when he reached out. “But no one talked on the phone anymore. So, after a brief, sweet exchange, we signed off as friends,”. Skye and Perry initially met as teenagers and had a brief romantic relationship. She added that it was “beautiful to have had that time” together.
Skye also reflected on her emotional response to Perry’s struggles, saying, “Anyone who’s despairing, it’s just the worst. And the thought of people can’t get out of those periods. It’s just, I feel for anyone like that.”
Remembering Matthew Perry
Matthew Perry rose to stardom playing Chandler Bing on “Friends” from 1994 to 2004. Apart from “Friends,” Perry worked in other projects, including the film “Fools Rush In,” “The Whole Nine Yards,” and TV shows such as “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and the remake of “The Odd Couple.”
His addiction battles are penned down raw in a memoir in 2022, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” He hoped that with this story, he would reach out to those facing similar situations.
