After Akshay Kumar’s shocking revelation that his 13-year-old daughter received an improper request on the phone from a stranger while playing a video game, Manoj Bajpayee, who is the father of a teenaged daughter, says protecting children from cyber crimes should be of paramount importance to the nation’s watchdogs.
“It is not enough to have laws to protect children. Those laws must be swiftly implemented. Anyone found guilty of crossing the line on the phone or computer must be nabbed and punished immediately.”
As the father of a daughter, Manoj is deeply concerned about the growing menace of cyber crimes. “Keeping children away from the phone or the computer is not the solution. Children need modern technology for their studies. It is like the atom bomb which was built for the advancement of civilization but was used for mass destruction. The same is happening with electronic technology.”
Manoj sees no rapid solution to the menace. “All I can advise parents is, talk to your children. Let them trust you and come to you in case of problems. A healthy dialogue between parents and child is the only solution. And if an incident happens, do not hush it up. Address it directly.”
