Manoj Bajpayee doesn’t easily praise his own performances or his co-stars. The last time he showered so many compliments on a female co-star was when he spoke to me of Tabu.
Now it is Samantha Ruth Prabhu who celebrates her birthday on April 28. “I came away from The Family Man’s Season 2 with so much respect for Samantha. Her dedication to getting right her character Rajalaxmi’s body language and spoken language was inspiring,” says Manoj.
Season 2 of The Family Man was appreciated for the undeniable powerhouse performances by Manoj Bajpai and Samantha .Manoj reveals that he had done his own home work while Samantha prepared for her role. He watched her films to know the kind of actor that she is.
Says Manoj, “When I got to know Raj and DK had cast Samantha, I wanted to know more about her work. I am a film buff. I watch all kinds of films and series to understand what is going on around me. I love to recognize acknowledge and bond with a talented colleague. Yes ,I saw Samantha’s work.”
When the two finally met, Manoj lavished compliments on Samantha. “The first thing I did when I met Samantha in Chennai was to congratulate her on her performance in Super Deluxe where she was magnificent. As an unfaithful wife trying to hide her lover’s body with her husband’s help, Samantha nailed it. Like me, she is not scared to take risks.”
The actor was impressed by Samantha’s homework for her role. “Her preparation for The Family Man is amazing. I’ve seen her videos where she is seen practicing her martial arts and all. This is what I like about my co-stars. When they show so much passion for their roles I get enthused to do my best. When they don’t I try to talk to them. Really, I came away with so much respect for Samantha Ruth Prabhu.”
