Prasanth Varma introduced the world to a new superhero with ‘HanuMan’, beautifully blending Indian scriptures with sci-fi. The filmmaker has decided to expand this universe and has announced new movies as well. One of them is ‘Mahakali’, introducing Bhoomi Shetty in the lead role.
Announcing the movie, he wrote on X, “From the cosmic womb of creation awakens the most FEROCIOUS SUPERHERO of the universe! Introducing #BhoomiShetty as MAHA. #Mahakali.”

Talking about the film, Prasanth Varma said in a statement, “After Hanu-Man, I was drawn to explore the essence of divine feminine energy and what could be more fitting than Mahakali, a cosmic power deeply rooted in our Itihasa yet seldom portrayed with the grandeur it truly deserves. When we chose Bhoomi for the role, she committed herself completely, undergoing rigorous training to embody the immense strength and grace the character demands. There’s a rare intensity in her eyes that captures the very soul of Mahakali. This film will transform the way audiences perceive goddesses on screen.”
The universe will also expand to ‘Jai Hanuman’. For the unversed, ‘Jai Hanuman’ is the sequel to Prashanth Varma’s 2024 film ‘Hanuman’, and Rishab Shetty sent his fans into a frenzy after unveiling his look from the sequel.
While speaking to Pinkvilla, Rishab Shetty praised director Prashanth Varma and revealed why he said yes to ‘Jai Hanuman’. He said, “Prashant Verma has done a fabulous job on the script. The story is so interesting, I thought there shouldn’t be any commitment before this, let’s finish it and then see and then do something.”
“When Prashant Verma came and told me the story, I couldn’t refuse. Immediately, I told him, ‘yes, let’s do this.’ After that, we did a photoshoot, and its work is also going on. After the release of Kantara, we’ll fix a date and start,” he added.
