Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has been in the news many times, but this time it’s because she has quit the Miss World pageant, which is happening in Hyderabad, India. Milla was representing the United Kingdom at the Miss World contest in Hyderabad, Telangana. She shocked many by suddenly leaving the competition for personal reasons. This is the first time in 74 years that a Miss England winner has quit the Miss World pageant. What surprised people even more were the strong reasons she gave. Milla said she felt very uncomfortable and “felt like a prostitute.” She also claimed that the organisers “farmed her out for entertainment.”

Milla Magee chose to speak out after she was reportedly made to appear in front of ‘wealthy male sponsors’. She revealed that contestants were instructed to wear heavy makeup and remain dressed in evening gowns from morning until night. According to her, this was done to impress and charm the rich patrons who were funding the pageant, a practice that made her feel deeply uncomfortable and led to her decision to withdraw.

She Opened Up On The Incident

In an interview with The Sun Magazine, Milla stated, “We weren’t there to entertain wealthy men who help the government.” She added, “But we had to sit like performing monkeys”. Magee said she “felt like a prostitute” and could no longer be a part of the contest from a moral standpoint.

She Quit

“We regret to announce that Milla Magee has returned home to the UK due to personal reasons. We stand fully by her decision- health must always come first,” said Angie Beasley, the director of Miss England After She Quit.

What She Said To The Sun

“There were two girls at each table of six guests. We were expected to sit with them for the whole evening and entertain them as a thank you. I found that unbelievable. I remember thinking, ‘This is so wrong’. I didn’t come here to be farmed out for people’s entertainment,” she told The Sun.

“Miss World is supposed to have the same values, but it’s outdated and stuck in the past. They made me feel like a prostitute,” She also said that she once tried to talk about the social causes she cared about, but quickly realised that the men she was speaking to weren’t interested in what she had to say.
