These days, even films made with huge budgets and big stars can fail if their story isn’t strong. What truly works is good content. Last year, the Telugu film Hanuman proved this. Even though it was made for just Rs 40 crore, it earned a massive Rs 350 crore because people loved its superhero theme, visuals, and story.
HanuMan is a 2024 Telugu superhero movie directed by Prasanth Varma and produced by K. Niranjan Reddy. Set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, it is the first film in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe.
Cast
Released last year, Hanuman stars Teja Sajja, Amrita Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Samuthirakani, and Vinay, with music by Anudeep Dev. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film blends Indian mythology with modern day fantasy.
Plot
The story is about Hanumanth (Teja Sajja), a simple young man who finds a magical stone that gives him superpowers. He uses these powers to protect his village. But Michael (Vinay), who has always wanted to be a superhero, tries to take the stone from him. The fight between the two becomes the main conflict of the film.

HanuMan became the biggest Sankranthi hit in Telugu cinema in the last 92 years. The film broke many boxoffice records and collected around Rs 350 crore worldwide. It also became the 10th highest earning Indian film of 2024, the 4th highest grossing Telugu film of the year, and the 11th highest grossing Telugu film of all time.
