Bollywood’s love for romantic films is well-known, and this Valentine’s Week, Loveyapa aims to bring a fresh perspective. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film stars Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, both making their theatrical debut. With months of promotional reels and videos creating buzz, the film has finally hit the big screen. But does it live up to the expectations?
Loveyapa Plot Twist
The story of the film revolves around Gaurav Sachdeva (Junaid Khan) and Bani Sharma (Khushi Kapoor), a couple deeply in love. However, things take a turn when Bani’s father, Atul Kumar Sharma (Ashutosh Rana), challenges them to swap their phones for a day. What starts as a test soon reveals secrets, shaking their trust in each other. The film explores how modern relationships are affected by digital dependency and privacy concerns.
Direction, Screenplay, And Music
Advait Chandan successfully captures the shade of today’s generation and their digital insecurities. A standout moment in the film includes tribute to Aamir Khan, with a scene featuring a clip from one of his movies in the background.
The film’s dialogues and screenplay, written by Sneha Desai and Siddhant Mago, maintain engagement throughout. While the first half sets up the story seen in the trailer, the second half delivers strong messages on issues like body shaming, cyberbullying, and morphed videos.
A Promising Debut For Junaid And Khushi
Loveyapa marks the silver screen debut for both Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, who were previously seen in Maharaj and The Archies, on OTT respectively. Junaid convincingly plays a modern Delhi boy, displaying a completely different side compared to his previous role whereas Khushi brought sincerity to her performance and adds charm to every scene. The supporting cast, including Ashutosh Rana, Kiku Sharda, and Gurusha Kapoor, make a strong impact with their performances.
Loveyapa stands apart from typical Bollywood romances by blending a love story with today’s modern relationship issues.
