Lollapalooza India: The world-famous ‘Lollapalooza India’ festival kicked off in Mumbai on Saturday, with 40 international artists and bands scheduled to perform over four stages over the next two days. The first day’s highlights were 20 songs by Imagine Dragons, including Radioactive, Demons, It’s Time, Bones, and Bad Liar, in which lead singer Dan Reynolds praised India’s people and food.

Reynolds, who waved the Tricolour as the crowd grooved through the band’s 90-minute performance, said “this is the first of many more shows to come in India”.

Saba Azad took the stage with Madboy Mink, and Japanese Breakfast, led by artist Michelle Zauner, also played.

AP Dhillon, an Indo-Canadian Punjabi musician, sung classics including Wo Noor, Toxic, and Brown Munde, sending the audience in raptures, with the greatest applause coming for ‘Tareef,’ during which he also strummed the guitar. “This is why we do music; it brings us together,” Dhillon stated on stage.

On top of putting on a fantastic performance on Saturday in Mumbai, Punjabi synth-pop sensation AP Dhillon also surprised the audience by throwing a ukelele at them. In Mumbai’s ongoing Lollapaloza India festival, he did this while performing on the BudX stage.
