Malayalam film ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has been making waves across the country and has received immense love and praise from the audience. In a recent interview, producer Dulquer Salmaan revealed his father Mammootty and Kalyani’s father Priyadarshan were worried about film’s failure.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer revealed, “Her dad didn’t expect it. He was like, ‘What were you thinking? Why would you take this bet? I told him honestly — I didn’t know. I just believed in the idea. It felt right. My dad (veteran actor Mammootty) was worried too. They all thought we were a little mad, but they’re very proud now.”
Kalyani added, “The first message he sent me after everything blew up was, ‘Don’t let success get to your head and don’t let failure get to your heart.’ He says it often, but this time he sent it as a reminder, and he keeps reminding me every day. That’s what I hold on to.”
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kalyani Priyadarshan praised Dulquer Salmaan for creating a project like ‘Lokah’. She said, “You need to appreciate that we have people like Dulquer backing such a film.”
“Not only is it very different; it also takes a lot of courage to spend so much time and money on a film like Lokah. I’m not sure if such subjects are being discussed in other industries, but it’s because of people like him that it’s being made in Malayalam. He’s a real risk-taker, and if you look at his parents and mine, they were risk-takers too. That matters,” she added.
Talking about its OTT release, the makers have not announced their official streaming partner yet. According to Indiatimes, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ will reportedly release on Netflix after its theatrical run. Dulquer Salmaan’s previously produced movies ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’ have also been released on Netflix.
