New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda starrer Liger, which opened in theatres on Thursday, earned around 25 crore worldwide in Telugu and Tamil aversion. The Hindi version of the film, has opened at a dismal Rs 5 crore. According to trade sources, this is a disappointing start for the film, whose box office prospects were severely harmed after it debuted to mixed reviews. Vijay makes his Bollywood debut in Liger, opposite Ananya Panday. Puri Jagannadh directed the pan-India film about a mixed martial arts boxer with a stutter.

Liger, which also stars Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy and is produced by Karan Johar, was heavily promoted as a pan-India film. However, the film received largely negative reviews from critics, with many describing it as “formulaic” and a “wasted opportunity” for Vijay Deverakonda, who worked on the project for three years.
According to andhraboxoffice.com, Liger’s Telugu and Tamil versions had a disappointing opening, given the hype surrounding the film prior to its release. The film reportedly grossed 24.5 crore in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and the United States. Liger’s Hindi version premiered on Thursday night after 9 p.m., with most theatres showing only one show. As a result, the box office figures for the Hindi version are not yet available.
