After a successful theatrical run, blockbuster Malayalam film "L2: Empuraan" is set to make its OTT debut. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and featuring the legendary Mohanlal the movie is set in Kerala’s political world and tells the story of Jathin Ramdas (played by Tovino Thomas), a former Chief Minister whose greed causes chaos in the state. People begin to hope for the return of Stephen Nedumpally (played by Mohanlal) to bring back peace.
Producers Aashirvad Cinemas confirmed the streaming date through an official announcement on social media and the film will stream on JioHotstar from April 24. Their post read "L2: Empuraan will be streaming from 24th April only on JioHotstar."

The movie also stars Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Jerome Flynn, Indrajith Sukumaran, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. It is the sequel to the hit 2019 Malayalam movie ‘Lucifer’.
The movie also got into controversy after it received backlash for allegedly portraying the Gujarat riots in a manner that a particular section was the only responsible. Many scenes were edited and cut after the backlash.
But amid the controversy, from the opening day the film has achieved some remarkable feats and emerged as the first Malayalam film to cross the 250 crore milestone at the worldwide box office. In the meantime, it became the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.
