L2: Empuraan Box Office Collection Day 9: Mohanlal Malayalam Thriller Roars, Races Towards Rs.100 Crore Mark!

The movie L2: Empuraan is the second installment of the film Lucifer which was originally released in the year 2019.

Mohanlal’s much anticipated film, L2: Empuraan finally hit the big screens on 27th March, 2025 setting an unimaginable record on its opening day. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directed mass entertainer has received lot of love from the audience. The film’s opening day collection is more than twice the previous highest for a Malayalam film which clearly depicts Mohanlal’s unmatched stardom and immense popularity.

According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs.21 crore in India, surpassing all previous Malayalam film records. On its day 9the film had collected approx Rs 2.05 crore brining its total collection to Rs.90.78 crore net. The film collected Rs.21 crore in India on its first day, surpassing all previous Malayalam film records.

Star Cast

The supporting star cast of the film include Tovino Thomas as Jathin Ramdas,  Indrajit Sukumaran as Govardhan Manju Warrier as Priyadarshini Ramdas and  Suraj Venjaramoodu as Sanjanachaandran. Each character is expected to bring their own intrigue to the story which could make the film an overall grand cinematic experience.

Not 17 But The Film Underwent 24 Cuts

The revised version of Empuraan has undergone 24 cuts instead of 17. The authorities have released the updated censor certificate confirming these edits. The filmmakers have changed the main villain’s name from Balraj Bajrangi to ‘Baldev.’ They have also omitted Union Minister Suresh Gopi’s name from the thank-you card, as he had asked the crew to remove it.
