Mohanlal’s much anticipated film, L2: Empuraan finally hit the big screens on 27th March, 2025 setting an unimaginable record on its opening day. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directed mass entertainer has received lot of love from the audience. The film’s opening day collection is more than twice the previous highest for a Malayalam film which clearly depicts Mohanlal’s unmatched stardom and immense popularity.

According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs.21 crore in India, surpassing all previous Malayalam film records, The previous highest was The Goat Life, Prithviraj’s 2024 release, which opened at Rs.8.5 crore and before that Lucifer which was also directed by Prithviraj and starring Mohanlal collected Rs.6.10 crore in the year 2019. On its day 2the film had collected approx Rs 11crore and on its day three the film earned Rs13.37 crore brining and on day dour the film earned Rs.14 crore, brining its total collection to 59.35 crore!
