Actress Kunickaa Sadanand recently shared details about her past relationship with iconic singer Kumar Sanu, revealing that they dated during the 1990s. In a candid interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sadanand opened up about how she met the singer and the challenges they faced.
Meeting Kumar Sanu & Developing A Close Bond
Sadanand revealed that she met Kumar Sanu during a shoot in Ooty while she was trying to establish her career in the industry. Sanu, who was on vacation with his sister and nephew, formed a strong bond with the actress. She also mentioned that the singer was going through a tough time personally and once attempted to jump from a hotel window while intoxicated. The actress and her team intervened and helped him, which brought them closer.
Sadanand described her relationship with Kumar Sanu as being deeply personal, stating, “I was like a wife to him. I considered him my husband.” She also revealed that she encouraged him to focus on his fitness and fashion during the peak of his career.

Kumar Sanu’s Wife Smashes Car
Despite their closeness, their relationship faced challenges due to Kumar Sanu’s personal life. Sadanand recalled an incident where Sanu’s then-wife, Rita, became furious over delayed financial support for their children. She went to Sadanand’s house and smashed her car with a hockey stick in a fit of rage. Sadanand sympathized with Rita, understanding her frustration but clarified that Rita had no desire to reconcile with Sanu.
Despite their strong bond, Kunickaa Sadanand and Kumar Sanu eventually parted ways. Sanu later married his current wife, Saloni, with whom he has two daughters.
