Kunal Kamra is recently the hot topic of discussion after the Comedian sang a parody song targeting Maharashtra’s deputy CM Eknath Shinde, comedian referred him as ‘traitor’ in the song.
However, FIR has been lodged against him and he is asked to present before police on 31st March regarding the investigation. But he seems not to be cooling down as recently he took a jab at mainstream media. On Thursday, March 27, Kunal took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticise journalists for hounding him for comments.
He wrote, “The mainstream media at this point is nothing but a miscommunication arm of the ruling party. They are vultures who report on issues that don’t matter to the people of this country. If they all shut shop from tomorrow till eternity, they will be doing a favour to the country, its people, and their own children.”
To all those hounding for a quote –

The Controversy Over ‘Traitor’ Remarks
The controversy started after a video of Kunal’s stand-up act at The Habitat in Khar, Mumbai went viral. As mentioned, Kunal parodied a Hindi song, referring to Shinde as a gaddar (traitor).
Shortly after the video went viral, Shiv Sena workers vandalised The Habitat studio where the event was held and forced it to shut down temporarily. The venue issued an official statement confirming the same.
Multiple FIRs Filed Against Kamra
In response to the complaints from Shiv Sena (Shinde) MLA Murji Patel, three FIRs have been lodged against Kunal. The first is registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) which include charges related to publishing false statements, provoking unrest and breaching public peace. Additionally, a zero FIR was filed in Manmad which was later transferred to Khar Police and one more FIR was registered at MIDC Police Station.
Following the attack on The Habitat, the police registered also another FIR against Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) youth leaders, including Rahool N Kanal, Kunal Sarmalkar and nearly 40 other party workers.
Kunal’s Defiant Response
Despite the backlash, Kunal has refused to apologise. In a strong-worded statement, he said, “I will not apologise. What I said is exactly what Mr. Ajit Pawar (1st Deputy CM) said about Mr. Eknath Shinde (2nd Deputy CM). I don’t fear this mob, and I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down.
As the controversy continues, Kamra remains vocal against both political leaders and the media, further fuelling the debate over freedom of speech.
