New Delhi: Male-starring films are no longer as popular as they once were. There is a growing demand for more honest, real, and authentic storytelling. While “masala” films may do well financially at the box office, more female-led films have been released in recent years.

Sanya Malhotra
In sports biopics like Dangal, by playing supporting roles. Sanya Malhotra, a Bollywood actress, has made an appearance in Umesh Bist’s modern social drama Pagglait. The movie explores the issue of a young widow who wants to live out her ambition but is constrained from doing so by her family’s insistence that she get married once more.
Puja Agarwal
Ever since she was hired as an actor, Puja Agarwal has contributed to short films that focus on women. She has worked on short films like Truth about Lies and Mirror while giving her heart and soul to the task, and she is currently developing “Bisaahee,” another women-focused short film. The plot centers on Stuti, a modern-day vlogger, who travels to a remote village where women are burned at the stake for committing witchcraft.
Nushrratt Bharuccha
The most recent project Nushrratt Bharuccha worked on was the Hindi remake of the well-known Marathi horror film Chhori. She has acted in films such as Dream Girl, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and the Pyaar Ka Punchama series from India.
