Discussing the creative process, Konkona Sen Sharma shared, “So, I had lust on my mind, looking for lust stories, and you don’t want to just portray lust straightforwardly because it can be a little boring since everybody knows about it. So I wanted to mix it with motherhood or something interesting.” She then recounted her friend sharing a real-life incident when she spoke to her maid, which served as inspiration for the project.

Recalling the creative process, Konkona shared that she heard a real-life story from a friend who, living alone, experienced a similar situation with her maid. In that instance, there was no conversation; the friend extended her hand, the maid handed the key, and the story concluded. Konkona placed herself in that situation, contemplating how one would deal with it. The actress acknowledged that, in the story, both characters were engaged in something wrong, and she deliberately avoided delving into the morality of it.
Konkona Sen Sharma also explored the taboo surrounding female sexuality, expressing her desire to bring attention to the fact that women in any class or society can barely acknowledge their own desires. She emphasized the importance of open conversations, wanting these aspects to be spoken out loud since society has normalized them without truly understanding or humanizing certain individuals.
During the same conversation, she admitted to being apprehensive about how people might react to the story, stating that she hadn’t thought so far ahead during the writing process and even shocked herself at times, questioning how they could write it in such a way.
