Kishkindha Kaandam OTT Release Date: Malayalam cinema has turned out to be one of the most successful film industries in India in 2024. The latest mystery-thriller movie ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ has also joined the list and became both critically and commercially successful. The movie revolves around a newlywed couple and forest officials, who try to find out the reason behind the disturbance caused by monkeys in a village. According to several media reports, ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ will release on Disney+ Hotstar on November 1, 2024.
The movie stars Asif Ali, Vijayaraghavan and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles.
In an interview with The Hindu, Aparna Balamurali talked about her experience of working in ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’. Talking about her character, she shared, “Aparna is a curious woman, there are things happening which are beyond her comprehension because she is new to the place. Everything is new, and she is trying to adapt. Her character travels with the audience, the story unfolding as it does for them.”
There are certain films you feel you should be a part of…the size of the character does not matter. Kishkindha Kaandam was one such. It has several layers — it is about human relationships, the different shades and the vulnerabilities that they bring,” she further added.
Talking about the plot of the movie, director Dinjith said, “The tagline of our movie is ‘three wise monkeys.’ Every character in the film is wise in their own way, which will become clear as the story unfolds. Many have been curious about why we named it Kishkindha Kaandam. The characters in the movie live on the fringes of a forest, with their lives deeply connected to its ecosystem. Since Kishkindha was the name of the mythical kingdom ruled by Sugriva and Bali, I thought it would be an exciting name for the film. When I suggested it, everyone loved it. The title has no direct link to the myth of Kishkindha – we just borrowed the name.”
On the work front, Aparna Bhanushali was last seen in the Tamil movie ‘Raayan’ with Dhanush, Dushara Vijayan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, S. J. Suryah, Selvaraghavan and Prakash Raj. Meanwhile, Asif Ali was last seen in the movie ‘Adios Amigo’, which received mixed reviews.
