Kim Soo Hyun, popular South Korean actor, is currently in the middle of a massive controversy involving late actress Kim Sae Ron. He was accused of dating Sae Ron when she was a minor, while, he was an adult. He recently held a press conference to address these rumours and allegations and also broke down in tears while talking to the media. After continuously denying the claims of dating Kim Sae Ron, Kim Soo Hyun himself accepted that he was dating her but said she was not a minor at that time. Her family earlier claimed that the Queen Of Tears actor dated her when she was only 15 and he was 27.
Talking about the viral selfie posted by Kim Sae Ron with on Instagram, he wrote, “It was the same when the deceased posted a photo of us together during the airing of “Queen of Tears.” Five years ago—and four years before “Queen of Tears” aired—the deceased and I dated for about a year. But at that time, I denied the dating rumors. I think it’s natural to criticize me for that choice. I understand if you can’t believe what I’m saying now about what happened between the deceased and me.”
Kim Soo Hyun completely refuted the rumours that he dated Kim Sae Rin when she was a minor and said that they rarely made a contact after their breakup. He said, “I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. And it is also not true that the deceased made a tragic choice because of me turning away or because my agency pressured her about her debt. Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were both just ordinary lovers like everyone else. We met with good feelings for each other, and as time passed, we broke up. After that, we rarely contacted each other. Like most couples, we were cautious to contact each other separately after breaking up.”
Kim Sae Ron tragically passed away on February 16, 2025. She was found dead by her friend in her apartment and her death was ruled as suicide. She reportedly got married to someone else after breakup with Kim Soon Hyun.
