The excitement for the upcoming Netflix series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter has grown a lot after former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly worked with the makers on a promo for the show, which premieres on March 20.
Weeks after director Neeraj Pandey hinted that Sourav Ganguly might appear in the show, Netflix surprised fans by introducing him in the promo. In the video, Ganguly plays a police officer, dressed in a police uniform and holding a baton. The promo also shows him remembering an ex-coach while showing his intense anger.
Ganguly’s Humorous Police Audition in the Promo
In the viral promo, Ganguly humorously uses his cricket shots while interrogating a prisoner during his audition. The promo introduces him as “The Bengal Tiger.” Netflix shared the video with the message, “The Bengal Tiger meets the Bengal Chapter. Watch Khakee: The Bengal Chapter out on March 20, only on Netflix.”

Ganguly Shares His Excitement for the Series
Talking about this surprising collaboration, Sourav Ganguly shared his love for thrillers and cop dramas. He said, “Khakee is one of my favorite franchises, and I was excited when Netflix approached me. I feel like a superfan. The series, shot in Kolkata, has an amazing story and great performances. It’s a must-watch for thriller lovers.”
About the Show
The series, directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, is a follow-up to the 2022 show Khakee: The Bihar Chapter. Set in Kolkata in the early 2000s, it tells the story of an IPS officer battling crime, corruption, and political power. The trailer shows the officer’s struggles as he challenges the powerful people controlling the system.
Star Cast and Background
The show features a strong Bengali cast, including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jeet, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Saswata Chatterjee. It is also the first Hindi drama to have an entirely Bengali cast. The show is co-written by Neeraj Pandey, Debatma Mandal, and Samrat Chakraborty.
