Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday have teamed up for Kesari 2, which is set against the backdrop of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The movie will focus on C Sankaran Nair, who was a lawyer and fought against the Britishers in the court after the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. The movie will also release in the dubbed version of Telugu and Rana Daggubati’s production house Suresh Productions will bring it to the screens.
Reviewing Kesari 2 and announcing its release in Telugu, Rana Daggubati wrote on Instagram, “Just watched an incredible historical courtroom drama — Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. Kesari Chapter 2 is based the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, written by written by Raghu Palat, who is also the great-grandson of C Sankaran Nair. At the trailer launch, Raghu Palat became emotional on stage and praised everyone in the team. While adressing the media, he said, “This film is every emotional to me because it brought the struggle he went to life.” He further expressed his gratitude Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar and director Karan Singh Tyagi for making Kesari Chapter 2.

For the unversed, the full name of C Sankaran Nair is ‘Chettur Sankaran Nair‘, who played a pivotal role for India in the pre-independence era. He reportedly began his career as a lawyer in 1880 in the High Court of Madras. Later, he was appointed as a member of the committee for an enquiry into the district of Malabar. He served as the Advocate-General to the Government and an Acting Judge till 1908 and became a permanent Judge in the High Court of Madras till 1915.
Directed by the debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, the movie will release on April 18, 2025.
