The winners of the 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced at a ceremony held at Ramanilayam, Thrissur, by Minister for Culture and Films Saji Cherian, in the presence of a seven member jury led by Prakash Raj.
Mammootty and Shamla Hamza bagged the top acting honours, while Chidambaram S Poduval’s Manjummel Boys was declared the Best Film of the year.
With this victory, Mammootty has now broken the record for the most Best Actor wins, with seven awards in total surpassing legends Mohanlal and Urvashi, who have six each. The megastar has previously won the honour for Adiyozhukkukal, Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, Mrigaya, Mahayanam, Vidheyan, Ponthan Mada, Vatsalyam, Kaazhcha, Paleri Manikyam, and Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
