Malayalam actress Lakshmi Menon has landed in legal controversy after being named as the third accused in the kidnapping and assault of an IT professional in Kochi. The actress, who was reportedly missing as police attempted to trace her, has now received temporary relief after the Kerala High Court stayed her arrest. The court will hear detailed arguments on her anticipatory bail plea after the Onam holidays.

About The Case:

According to a report by Manorama Online, the incident began when Lakshmi, along with her three other friends, got into an argument with a group at a bar. The argument escalated quickly after the accused followed the other group when they tried to leave the venue.

As per the complaint filed by Aluva native Aliyar Shah Saleem, his car was stopped around 11:45 PM, and he was dragged out. The reports further claimed that the complainant was beaten on his face and body and threatened with dire consequences after he was taken to the accused’s car.

About Lakshmi Menon

Lakshmi Menon started her career in showbiz as a dancer, and later she ventured into acting. She was spotted by Malayalam director Vinayan, who decided to cast her in his film after seeing her during a Bharatnatyam telecast. She made her debut in 2011 with the film ‘Raghuvinte Swantham Rasiya’. She was unstoppable after her debut in 2011 and then worked in ‘Ideal Couple’. In 2012, Lakshmi starred in ‘Sundarapandian’, which was also her Tamil debut.

After ‘Sundarapandia’, she established her career in Tamil cinema and appeared in ‘Kumki’, ‘Kutti Puli’, ‘Pandia Naadu’, ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’, ‘Jigarthanda’, ‘Vedalam’, ‘Rekka’, ‘Chandramukhi 2’ and many more. For her role in ‘Sundarapandian’, she won many awards, including the Filmfare Award South for Best Female Debut. She received praise for her performance in ‘Kumki’ and won the Filmfare Award South in the Best Actress- Tamil category.
