Kaushaljis vs Kaushal Review: Ashutosh Rana & Sheeba Chaddha Shine In The Epic Family Drama!

A tale of love, separation, and family bonds, Kaushaljis vs Kaushal beautifully portrays the generational gap and evolving relationships!

Review By Ashwini Kumar: Relationships are the talk of every generation, but conversations within relationships are essential. In an era where people connect more through Wi-Fi than emotions, Kaushaljis vs Kaushal brings a heartfelt story of family bonds, generational conflicts and changing societal norms. Similar to Badhaai Ho, which humorously portrayed the dilemma of a middle-aged couple expecting a child, this film explores how relationships evolve over time.

A Clash Of Generations

The film revolves around a middle-class family in Kannauj. Senior Kaushal, Sahil Kaushal, and his wife, Sangeeta Kaushal, have been married for 26 years. Their son, Yug, is a copywriter at an advertising agency, while their daughter, Reet, works for an NGO. While the children are busy shaping their lives, their parents, burdened with unfulfilled dreams, spend time arguing over their past aspirations.

However, the real storm brews when the couple, influenced by modern trends, decides to separate after 26 years of marriage. This shocks the entire family. Yug is preparing to settle down with Kiara, who has returned from New York with the dream of marrying into a happy family, not a broken one. Their parents’ unexpected decision puts their future in jeopardy, creating a whirlwind of emotions.

Story Line

With a runtime of 2hrs 11 minutes, Kaushaljis vs Kaushal beautifully captures family relationships, generational perspectives on love, dating, breakups, and moving on. Seema Desai, the debutant writer-director, bridges the gap between old and new ideologies, showcasing how societal changes impact relationships. The film strikes a balance between comedy and drama, making it a perfect family watch on OTT platforms.

The subplot of Sahil Kaushal, an accountant with a dream of becoming a qawwali singer, and Sangeeta Kaushal, who nurtures her family like a fragrance of perfume, adds emotional depth to the story. The screenplay effectively blends their aspirations with real-life dilemmas.

Star Cast

Ashutosh Rana shines in comedic scenes and leaves a lasting impact in emotional sequences. Sheeba Chaddha delivers a heartwarming performance, capturing the essence of a loving yet unfulfilled mother. Eisha Talwar (Kiara) impresses with her screen presence, while Pavail Gulati showcases immense potential. Diksha Joshi as Reet holds her ground, but the standout performances come from Brijendra Kala and Grusha Kapoor, who add flavor to the story.
