In Tokyo, Katy Perry and Trudeau also met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko, on Wednesday, December 3. Kishida shared a photo taken near a Christmas tree on X, describing Perry as Trudeau’s ‘partner.’ He wrote in Japanese, ‘Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came to Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch.’

Kishida recalled his long-standing partnership with Trudeau, writing, “During his tenure as Prime Minister, we met several times, and when I visited Canada, we worked to strengthen bilateral relations, including developing the ‘Japan-Canada Action Plan.’ I am pleased that we continue our friendship in this way.”
Trudeau echoed Kishida on social media, writing, “Nice to meet you, Kishida. Katy and I were delighted to have the opportunity to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you for your friendly relations and your commitment to an international rules-based order and a better future for all.”
When did Katy Perry start dating Justin Trudeau?
According to reports, Perry and Trudeau began dating after meeting in Montreal earlier this summer. Both had recently separated from previous relationships. Perry separated from Orlando Bloom in June, while Trudeau announced his separation from his wife, Sophie Gregoire, in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
A source close to the couple told People magazine that Trudeau had been following Grammy nominee Perry since their dates in Montreal. “He even went to California to visit her during a tour break. They have a great bond. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful,” the source added.
Katy Perry and Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple at a cabaret show in Paris on October 25, confirming rumours of their relationship. Photos from that evening showed the two holding hands and smiling as they left the venue.
