A recent podcast featuring YouTuber Elvish Yadav has sparked controversy after he made derogatory remarks about Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang. The comments, which also referenced her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, have been widely criticized. The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) condemned the remarks and issued a summon for Elvish to address the issue.
Karan Veer Mehra Breaks Silence On The Controversy
Karan Veer Mehra, who is rumoured to be dating Chum Darang, shared his reaction to the controversy. When asked about the case filed against Elvish, he responded, “Bohot bura hua, aisa nahi hona chahiye tha” (Very bad. It shouldn’t have happened).
APSCW Chairperson Kenjum Pakam wrote a letter to the National Commission for Women (NCW), calling Elvish’s remarks offensive to Chum Darang and disrespectful to women across Northeast India. The commission has urged the NCW to take strict action against him.
Elvish Responds Amid Controversy
Elvish allegedly mocked Chum Darang during the podcast, questioning her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi and making remarks about her name. Rajat Dalal later claimed the comments were scripted, but the backlash continued. Addressing the controversy, Elvish released a video, saying, “I don’t care whether I said it or not; I removed it. I don’t want any negativity.”
Clarifying himself, Elvish Yadav issued a statement yesterday through his X account (formerly Twitter), addressing the controversy. He stated, “A statement from my podcast is being taken out of context and presented in a misleading way. There was never any intention to target or insult anyone. I have always believed in respect and inclusivity, and those who know me understand that I have nothing but love for everyone. It’s unfortunate that a false narrative is being created, completely misrepresenting my words. This whole issue is based on false allegations of racism, which is simply not true. To avoid further misinterpretation, the statement was removed from the podcast, and I also addressed the clarification in my next vlog. I have always stood for positivity and inclusivity and will continue to do so.”
