Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has taken legal action against the unauthorized use of his name in the title of an upcoming film ‘Shaadi Ke Director Karan aur Johar’. He filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking relief against the alleged infringement of his trademark.

The dispute centers around the film titled. Johar asserts that the use of his name in the title is unauthorized and violates his intellectual property rights. Initially registered as “Bollywood Wale Karan Johar” with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), Johar claims he has no association with the project and has not granted permission for the use of his name.

In his petition, Johar requests the court to direct the filmmakers to refrain from using his name in the film’s title and to take appropriate legal action against them for infringement. The case awaits a hearing in the Bombay High Court.

This isn’t Johar’s first encounter with intellectual property disputes. In the past, he’s tackled unauthorized use of his production house’s logo and trademarks.

The unauthorized use of a celebrity’s name or likeness can mislead the public into believing they endorse the project. Intellectual property rights are vital for safeguarding the creative works and reputations of artists and filmmakers.

Johar’s legal action demonstrates his commitment to protecting his intellectual property and controlling the use of his name and brand.
