Rishab Shetty took the Kannada cinema to a new height with his blockbuster movie ‘Kantara’. He will return to the big screen with its prequel ‘Kantara Chapter 1′, which has now added a new cast. Talented Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah has joined the film and will play the role of Kulashekara.
Unveiling his first look from the movie, the makers wrote, “Introducing @gulshandevaiah78 as ‘KULASHEKARA’ from the world of #KantaraChapter1.”
The film’s visual is backed by the powerful cinematic vision of Arvind S. Kashyap as cinematographer and the evocative music of B. Ajaneesh Loknath, whose compositions in the first film left audiences spellbound. It is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films.
Earlier, while interacting with the media, producer Vijay Kirangandur said, “We’ve completed about 30 per cent of the filming, and the next schedule is starting in September. Fans can expect the movie to hit theatres by August 2025.”
On the work front, Rishab Shetty will be seen in ‘Jai Hanuman’, directed by Prasanth Varma. Announced in October 2024, the film is being made for an immersive IMAX 3D experience. Announcing the film, the makers wrote, “A vow from the Tretayuga, bound to be fulfilled in the Kaliyuga. National Award-winning actor @rishabshettyofficial and Sensational Director @prasanthVarmaofficial bring forth an epic of loyalty, courage and devotion. A @mythriofficial’s proud presentation in association with @thepvcu.”

He will also be seen in ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja’ in the titular role. The movie is scheduled to release in theatres on January 21, 2027.
He will also star in another Telugu film and team up with director Ashwin Gangaraju. The film is currently being made under the title ‘Production No. 36’ and its official name has not been announced. Other details, such as the star cast and release date, have also been kept under wraps.
