Rishab Shetty’s movie ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has finally been released in theatres after much waiting. The movie is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kannada film ‘Kantara’ and has been receiving an amazing response from the audience. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ is a clear winner amid several other releases this week. In the Hindi belt, the movie has clashed with ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ in theatres.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 3:
Kantara Chapter 1 had a strong opening at the box office, collecting Rs 61.85 crore on its first day, with earnings of Rs 19.6 crore in Karnataka, Rs 13 crore in Telangana, Rs 18.5 crore in Hindi speaking regions, Rs 5.5 crore in Tamil Nadu, and Rs 5.25 crore in Kerala. On the second day, the film earned Rs 46 crore, a drop of about 25.6%, including Rs 13.5 crore in Karnataka, Rs 11.75 crore in Telangana, Rs 12.5 crore in Hindi markets, Rs 4.5 crore in Tamil Nadu, and Rs 3.75 crore in Kerala.
Early estimates for the third day, Saturday, suggest collections of around Rs 55 crore, bringing the three day total to approximately Rs 162.85 crore.
About Kantara Chapter 1
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the prequel explores the mythological origins of the story told in Kantara. Set ten centuries before the events of the first film, it features Shetty in a new role alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.
Rishab has essayed the role of Berme alongside Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi, and Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara. The film’s visual is backed by the powerful cinematic vision of Arvind S. Kashyap as cinematographer and the evocative music of B. Ajaneesh Loknath, whose compositions in the first film left audiences spellbound. It is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films.
