Kantara Chapter 1 Update: Team Dismisses Rumors of Filming Halt Due To On-Set Accident

Earlier, several news reports stated that the accident occurred near Jadkal on Sunday night when the mini-bus carrying the crew of the film overturned.

After a long wait, Rishabh Shetty’s fans finally had a reason to rejoice as the prequel to his superhit film Kantara went on floors. However, reports of a major accident sent shockwaves through the industry. Several media houses reported that a bus carrying 20 cast members of Kantara: Chapter 1 was involved in an accident after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred near Jadkal, Karnataka, resulting in six out of 20 passengers being severely injured. However, the film’s PR team has now issued an official statement refuting all the reports.

As per a statement, which is said to be shared by a source close to the production, the news is false. “The news making rounds is completely false. The Kantara: Chapter 1 team began shooting at 6 am today, and everything is proceeding as normal. A minor accident occurred 20 kilometers away from the shooting location, involving a local bus carrying some members of the Kantara team. However, no injuries were reported,” read the statement.

Earlier, the news reports stated that the accident occurred near Jadkal on Sunday night when the mini-bus carrying the crew of the film overturned. A police official further informed PTI, “The incident happened while they were returning to Kollur after completing the shoot at Mudoor in Jadkal. The mini-bus was carrying 20 junior artists when it met with the accident.”

The injured were rushed to hospitals in Jadkal and Kundapur for treatment, they said. The Kollur police are currently investigating the matter.

About Kantara Chapter 1

The upcoming film is written and directed by Rishabh Shetty, who is also the lead actor. First instalment of the franchise was appreciated for its grassroot story – folklore of coastal Karnataka with the ancient practice of Bhoota Kola. Released in 2022, the film did not became an instant hit but found its audience eventually. The fan base grew so much that the makers decided to come up with a prequel, which will now be released in theatres on October 2, 2025.
