Kannada Filmmaker Guruprasad Dies By Suicide At 52: Report

Guruprasad, popular Kannada director, passed away at the age of 52.

Guruprasad, the popular Kannada filmmaker, passed away at the age of 52. According to a report by Asiannet Newsable, his body was found in a decomposed state in his apartment in Madanayakanahalli, Bengaluru. He was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan by the police. Neighbours had called the police due to a foul smell allegedly coming from his apartment.

The police are currently investigating the case. The late filmmaker made his debut in 2006 with the film ‘Mata’, which became a huge hit. He last directed ‘Ranganayaka’, which was released on March 8, 2024, and did not work well at the box office.

Guruprasad was a well-known face in the Kannada film industry. He made his dream debut as a director in 2006 with the movie ‘Mata’. Despite being new in the game, Guruprasad rose to fame with ‘Mata’ as the movie became a massive hit and is now considered a cult classic. 

He later teamed up with Jaggesh again in 2009 for the movie ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’. This movie also became a massive commercial hit along with getting critical success. Guruprasad won the Best Screenplay at the Karnataka State Film Awards for ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’ and later won Best Director at the Filmfare Awards South.
