Kanguva Box Office Collection: Kanguva, Suriya’s comeback film after a long gap of two years, was finally released on November 14. Though there were high expectations considering the big claims made by its director Siva, the film did not receive highly positive feedback from netizens. Audiences who watched it on day 1, called it a “weak story” that fails to keep them “hooked”. Suriya’s performances was appreciated but it was not enough to pull up a falling script and poor direction.
Despite the mixed reviews, the film opened on a decent note, minting Rs 22 crore on day 1, reported Sacnilk. Kanguva had an overall 37.27 per cent occupancy in Tamil (2D) shows , with major business coming from Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul and Kochi. Where as in Tamil (3D) shows, it was a little higher, that is 49.89 per cent.
In NCR and Mumbai, the occupancy rate was as low as 9 per cent and 16 per cent despite good number of shows. Hindi occupancy of the film was merely 11.47 per cent, with most business coming from Bengaluru and Jaipur surprisingly.

Due to the delay, audiences’ anticipation had reached new heights, thereby raising expectations about the film.
Film’s Review By News 24
In News 24’s review, the writer called it a visually stunning but narratively flawed film. The review read, “Suriya works hard as Francis and Kanguva, but the weak storyline undermines his efforts. Disha Patani needs acting classes immediately. Yogi Babu’s misuse deserves punishment, and Bobby Deol should reconsider signing films without thought. Rockstar DSP’s loud background music irritates, making you ignore the impressive visuals. By the climax, you’re exhausted. Kanguva’s first part dashes expectations. South makers should slow down and focus on tightening their storylines in heavy-budget, pan-India films.”
