In the verdict of the Bilkis Bano case, the Supreme Court overturned the Gujarat government’s decision to release the 11 convicts involved in the rape of Bilkis Bano and the killing of her family during the 2002 Gujarat riots. Responding to a user on X platform, actor Kangana Ranaut expressed her intention to make a film about Bilkis Bano. Kangana, who is not only an actor but also a producer and filmmaker, disclosed that she has harbored the desire to create such a film for an extended period. She mentioned dedicating three years to researching and working on the project.

Kangana Ranaut expressed her frustration about the lack of support from top studios and OTT platforms for her film on Bilkis Bano. In a tweet, she stated, “I want to make that story, I have the script ready, researched and worked on it for three years. But Netflix, Prime Video and other studios wrote back to me that they have clear guidelines they don’t do so-called politically motivated films.” Kangana added, “JioCinema said we don’t work with Kangana because she supports BJP and Zee is going through a merger. What are my options?”

Kangana Ranaut replied to a user on X who had initially said, “Dear Kangana ma’am, your passion for women empowerment is so encouraging! Would you be interested in telling the story of Bilkis Bano with a powerful movie? Will you… Will you do it for Bilkis Bano, feminism or at least humanity?”

Kangana Ranaut, known for expressing her opinions on films, society, and women on social media, recently made comments about the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal. Responding to a user on X who praised her film Tejas (recently released on OTT) and questioned why it didn’t perform well at the box office, Kangana pointed fingers at the audience for favoring films depicting violence against women.
