Kangana is currently promoting her directorial venture, Emergency, where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik in key roles. Emergency was released in theaters on January 17.
While promoting, Kangana Ranaut shared her thoughts on Deepika Padukone’s character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Kangana revealed she was initially offered the role but turned it down, finding it “irrelevant.”
She stated, “When I asked about the heroine’s role, Bhansali said, ‘The hero sees her for the first time in a mirror while she’s getting ready.’ After watching the film, I realized he was right. The character mostly revolves around getting dressed and being observed.”
Reddit Agrees With Kangana’s Observations
Kangana’s comments sparked discussions on Reddit, with many users supporting her critique. One Redditor remarked, “Apart from her dance and the final scene, she is indeed only getting ready in the entire movie.” Another user praised Kangana’s insight, saying, “Gotta love Kangana’s savage analytical skills.” Some agreed wholeheartedly, commenting, “She’s actually not wrong. Deepika spent most of the film ‘getting dressed’ and exchanging glances with Shahid.”
