Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are the two biggest superstars in Tamil cinema, and it will be a dream come true for their fans to see them together on he big screen. As per the recent buzz, they are currently in talks to share the screen after 46 years, and the project is said to be helmed by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the project is likely to be a gangster drama and will be backed by Kamal Haasan under his production house. The plot will reportedly focus on the ageing gangsters, whose pasts collide again.
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth last appeared together in the 1979 film ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’.
Despite not sharing screen space for many years, both superstars have openly expressed their admiration for each other several times. A day before the release of ‘Coolie’, Kamal Haasan penned a heartfelt note for Rajinikanth as he completed 50 years in the film industry. He wrote, “Marking half a century of cinematic brilliance, my dear friend @rajinikanth celebrates 50 glorious years in cinema today. I celebrate our Super Star with affection and admiration, and wish #Coolie resounding global success befitting this golden jubilee.”

Talking about ‘Coolie’, the movie also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan was seen in a cameo role. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.

The movie also grabbed the attention after it received an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The A certification has been given to the film due to its violent scenes, and this came as a surprise for the audience, as Lokesh’s earlier movies ‘Leo’ and ‘Vikram’ got the ‘U/A’ certificate.
