Bollywood is currently blooming with sequels with several superstars returning with their popular franchises. According to recent reports, director Sujoy Ghosh has begun working on the script of Kahaani 3, in which Vidya Balan is set to make her comeback in the lead role. On the other hand, director Vikas Bahl is currently busy with the script of Queen 2 with Kangana Ranaut. However, the team is currently working on the title rights and it might be possible that the movie comes out with a completely new title, but the cast of the film will be the same. Besides that, a second installment of the comedy film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi is also in the making. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is working on the project, which is reportedly in the scripting phase.
The details of the sequels
According to a report by Pinkvilla, director Sujoy Ghosh has started penning the script for Kahaani 3 where Vidya Balan will be seen in the lead role. A source revealed, “Kahaani is a loved franchise, and Sujoy is trying to crack a script that’s as gripping as the earlier films of the franchise. While Vidya is on board with the film based on the idea, she is awaiting Sujoy to complete the screenplay.”
Director Vikas Bahl is reportedly set to bring the sequel to the 2013 blockbuster Queen with Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. The report stated, “Vikas has already cracked a script for Queen 2, but the legal teams are figuring out the rights for the title, as the producers of the first film no longer exist as an entity together. If not, the film might be made with a new title, but same cast.”
And the magic continues as producer Sajid Nadiadwala is reportedly working on the sequel of the popular comedy film ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’. The super hit film, released in 2004, starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. However, the producer is looking for a young, fresh cast this time. “MSK 2 is currently in the scripting stage, and the final outcome of it being made depends on how the script shapes up. If Sajid is happy with the script, he will start the casting process, or else put the film on the back burner. The idea is to make another comedy of errors with three leads,” the report concluded.
From Akshay Kumar’s another hit with his sequel Kesari Chapter 2, to the release of Raid 2, which is around the corner. Bollywood has recently been flooded by sequels and the audience seems to love the outcome.
