Dulquer Salmaan gives one of his career best performances as ‘Nata Chakravarthy’ T.K. Mahadevan. The mirror scenes at the interval & the climax, and the scene where he gets slapped by the heroine prove how good an actor he is.
Bhagyashri…
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, producer-actor Rana Daggubati talked about why he did not star in the film as the lead despite its good storyline. He shared, “Each story decides who its actor is in some manner, and everyone is right for a certain role. And I think if you’re trying to be a producer of a film, it’s about finding the best for that story. The second I heard it, I didn’t see anyone but Dulquer in it.”
The movie is set in the 1950s, in Madras and focuses on he legendary director in Tamil, Ayya, and his strained relationship with T. K. Mahadevan, a film star he helped establish. Things take a different turn when Mahadevan renames a female-focused film production that was previously called ‘Shaantha’ to suit his own image to ‘Kaantha’.
Samuthirakani plays a visionary writer-director in the film, whereas Bhagyashri portrays the role of an actress.
The movie is produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese under the banners Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films.
