Earlier, the teaser caught the viewers’ attention with its intriguing storyline.
It opens with the discussion of making the first Tamil horror film with Ayya (played by Samuthirakani). The scene soon turns tense with the entry of the main lead (Dulquer Salmaan) of the film as he starts making changes to the storyline. The flashback showcases some tensions between the actor and the director as their relationship turned sour for some reason.
The movie is produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese under the banners Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films.
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, producer-actor Rana Daggubati talked about why he did not star in the film despite its good storyline. He shared, “Each story decides who its actor is in some manner, and everyone is right for a certain role. And I think if you’re trying to be a producer of a film, it’s about finding the best for that story. The second I heard it, I didn’t see anyone but Dulquer in it.”
Apart from Dulquer, Kaantha also stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles. Samuthirakani plays a visionary writer-director in the film, whereas Bhagyashri portrays the role of an actress.
