Let’s take a look at how the film is expected to perform at the box office on its opening day.
Kaantha box office prediction day 1:
Industry insiders project a Day 1 India net collection between Rs 12-15 crore. If the word of mouth and on screen execution resonate with audiences, the worldwide opening could touch Rs 15-18 crore. Strong advance bookings, particularly in Tamil Nadu and Kerala Dulquer’s key markets indicate that the film may emerge as one of the biggest regional openings of 2025.
Dulquer’s star power, Rana’s popularity in South India, and the film’s period setting have built a lot of excitement. In the next two days, audience reactions and how full the theatres are will be key in determining Kaantha’s opening success.
About Kaantha
While there were rumours that the film was based on the life of M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, the makers have confirmed that it is entirely fictional. The movie is jointly produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their banners, Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films.
Set in 1950s Madras, the story follows a legendary Tamil director, Ayya, and his strained relationship with T. K. Mahadevan, a film star whose career Ayya helped launch. The plot takes a twist when Mahadevan changes the name of a female centric film from Shaantha to Kaantha to fit his own image.
