John Abraham Drops Major Hint About Pathaan Prequel- Is It Finally Happening?

John Abraham hints at a Pathaan prequel focused on his iconic villain character, Jim. The actor teased the possibility of exploring Jim's backstory, sparking excitement among fans.

After a four-year hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan made a triumphant return to Bollywood with Pathaan in 2023, an action-packed thriller from YRF’s Spy Universe. The film became a massive hit, breaking records and becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films. However, it wasn’t just Khan’s performance that stood out. John Abraham’s portrayal of the villain, Jim, quickly became a fan favourite, with many eager to know more about his character’s backstory.

Following the film’s success, Pathaan fans have been calling for a spin-off that delves into Jim’s past. It seems their wish might soon be granted. John Abraham recently hinted at the possibility of a prequel focusing on his character.

Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, John said, “Pathaan was really, really cool and special. Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I worked together on Dhoom, Kabul Express, New York, and then Pathaan. I think he (Adi) gets me right, and hopefully, we’ll be doing a prequel to Jim before he goes bitter. So that should be happening.”

Social Media Goes Wild With Excitement

The news quickly set social media ablaze with fans expressing their excitement. One fan tweeted, “There should be some back story related to Jim in Pathaan 2 and it should set up that Jim is still alive and lead to the prequel. It’s one of the best characters in recent years and can easily match Pathaan’s craze level if done right.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with one fan writing, “A Jim sequel before Pathaan 2, and John making a comeback again with another villain in P2 would be fun as hell.”

Jim’s Story Is Far From Over

It’s not the first time the idea of a Jim spin-off has been floated. Director Siddharth Anand had previously hinted that the character’s backstory could make for a compelling film. With both Aditya Chopra and John Abraham recognising Jim’s potential to strengthen the Spy Universe, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll get to explore more of his past.

There’s even speculation that Jim’s story might tie in with Kabir’s, potentially deepening the connection within the Spy Universe.

Pathaan 2 Is Also On the Horizon

While the talk of a Jim prequel has fans buzzing, the focus for now remains on Pathaan 2. The sequel, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, is expected to begin filming in 2026, though it remains unclear whether John Abraham will reprise his role.

YRF has reportedly locked the script for the much-anticipated sequel, but it’s clear that the excitement surrounding Jim’s character is far from over.
