With the trend of re-releases in Bollywood, it has come as a gift for nostalgic cinephiles but has been a curse for the new Bollywood releases. Several recent releases like ‘Yudhra’, ‘The Buckingham Murders’, and ‘Binny And Family’, among others received mixed responses from the audience. However, re-releases like ‘Tumbadd’ left these movies behind as the audience wholeheartedly welcomed them for the second time and collected more than Rs 40 crore. The movie’s excellent performance at the box office also resulted in surpassing its lifetime collection. Production houses, theatre owners and Bollywood fans will most likely see relief in the upcoming days as several big-budgeted movies are scheduled to release on the big screen.
In October 2024, Bollywood will witness a big box office clash as both ‘Jigra’ and ‘Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ with both the movies having a talented ensemble star cast. ‘Jigra’ is a thriller-drama with Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina in the lead roles. Whereas, ‘Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ has Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in the leads and will be a comedy movie.
Alia Bhatt has been known to deliver box office successes and her movie ‘Jigra’ is also backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The actress will be seen in an action role for the first time and has created hype among the audiences with the movie’s trailer receiving good response. There is high hope for ‘Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ as it is Rajkummar Rao’s next project after the massive success of ‘Stree 2’.
Meanwhile, in November 2024, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and ‘Singham Again’ will lock horns in theatres and are not ready to budge. Both movies have massive hype among the audiences and are commercial entertainers with a huge star cast. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ stars Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles with Madhuri Dixit reported to have a special appearance. ‘Singham Again’ has almost every popular Bollywood actor with Ajay Devgn, Kareena Johar, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff are the new additions to the movie.
The previous instalments of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Singham’ have been major hits and have been known to successfully bring the audience to theatres. With the new additions of actors in both movies, they are likely to create magic again at the box office.
These upcoming big-budgeted Bollywood movies can be the saviour for Bollywood amid the recent box office disappointments with the exception like ‘Stree 2’.
